2002 ford explorer xlt
I have a 2002 explorer xlt 108,000 miles and it just started misfiring a couple of days ago. Check engine light is on. It read that 1 and 3 are misfiring so replaced spark plugs. Problem still there it still shows 1 and 3. My work mechanic guy said it's not the wires. He thinks it's the fuel injector either dirty or bad. Is that hard to replace and is there more than one in there? I have no clue about motors just trying to get info for my boyfriend to attempt to fix. Also any manuels or diagrams out there for this?
Thanks for any help

it is possible for the injectors to be dirty and that could be causing your problem. You should also check your water level because i had the same problem of misfiring cylinders on one side of my engine and it turned out to be a blown head gasket. But hopefully for you it is just the injectors. I have never tried cleaning mine but i am sure there are some videos on youtube or something that explains how to take them out.

welcome

i had this problem and it turned out the plugs going onto the coil packs werent on tight because the plastic clips were old and broke. i zip tied them up and its good as new. as far as the fuel injectors, thats not hard at all. undo the tiny bolt holding your rail on and pull em out.
