I am new to this site and i have a problem. I just installed second tranamission in 1992 explorer and i put fluid in it. Now I am under the impression that a tranny and transfer case should hold 11 to 12 quarts of oil. I put in 5 and the oil is all staying in the pan what do I do?

A dry trans can take up to 12-13ish qts of fluid. If there was no fluid in there to start keep adding more.

The transmission and transfer-case are two distinct items, they do not share the fluid. What does the transmission dipstick say? is it registering there? Maybe this "new" transmission has problems too, like maybe a bad pump.

Ok I was just under my truck and i was listening to the transmission and I heard a clanking noise which im pretty sure is the torque converter so should I drop it again and if so what do I look for.
