My 94 explorer is not selling. I have it listed for $2500 and thought it would go fast, but it's been a month and no one has so much as emailed me, I've got it listed everywhere. I've looked it up on a few different blue books and 2500 around trade in value. Should I just keep waiting or lower the price? It's very clean, my family has had it since NEW and never been abused. 112,000 miles. Whats a good price for this suv? what do you old explorer owners buy and/or sell them for?

I did an edmunds.com research and ran it with leather, CD and an auto transmission (with a condition of "clean") and it came up with $2228 for private party sell for an Az vehicle.

Soo, it sounds like you might be slightly over priced but more importantly, its a truck and with gas prices like they are, trucks are harder to sell. It was even worse when gas was $3/gallon

Might just be a REGIONAL thing.....

I mean 4x4s are popular around here (Pac. Northwest) and they hold their value. Though, I could imagine that for places that don't NEED 4x4, some folks many see it as unneccessary or undesirable to have.

Aloha, Mark

up here in mass your lucky to get 2000 no matter what. not to mention that the truck has 112 k on it its not far from the tranny detionation point. thats usually around 130 k. i'd drop it, but a photo would help to see the condition.

Before I decided to fix my 91 Ex Eddie Bauer, I had it listed on Craigs list, I re listed a couple of times and put different prices, or none, but didnt get any offers over 400 bucks for it.

Thats when i decided to keep it, and see what i could do to keep her running for at least this winter and maybe next. I fixed the worst things, now i need to put a new exhaust, do the RAB's and find out why the radio dosent work.

i got a 92 give to me as in free in good condition only prob was a bad trans

I think that it depends on both the buyer and the seller. For some people, a clean explorer with low miles on it like yours holds real value. For others, none at all. I know that Az is snow and ice free year round, so 4x4 is not a nessesity but rather something that a vehicle for sale in that area happens to be equipped with. For the seller, if you know that you have a nice X then you probably feel a little miffed when someone comes along and wants to "steal" it. I know that in In where I am from you can't touch a decent SUV with 4x4 for under $2500, unless it is a really nice truck that "just" needs a tranny, engine, etc. Also, the trannies in these trucks, especially in the 93 and 94 models, are not that bad. Granted, if they have been abused and towed with then yes you will need to look into trannsmission replacement around that kind of mileage. However, if it hasn't been towed with and has been maintained then 200K is very possible with these trannies. There are many people on this site with ALOT of miles on their X's, trannies, engines, and all. Be patient and try putting the vehicle at a parking lot close to a busy intersection over the weekend, move it around from place to place over the course of a few weeks. All it takes is one person looking for a reliable SUV to carry the kids around in with not a bunch of money to buy your truck. Good Luck.

I just bought a '94 Explorer XLT 103k clean, $2800. I am in the pacific NW Washington state. And that was a good deal! They are very popular around here!

I bought my 93 Sport about 5 years ago. It only had 80,000 miles on it and looked and ran great. Paid $5000. Never had a vehicle run for 5 years. Of course I'm 25 and hard as hell on vehicles.

Down here in sunny socal there are explorers everywhere and there all going for like 4000 and up you can find them for less but then there pretty beat up.

I'm having the same trouble trying to sell mine, i've had a few phone calls a few people stopped to look at it but nobody seemed real interested. The Kbb for it is right around $3000 for my area. I am currently asking $2800 obo but i think i will drop it to $2700obo. I mean sometimes that 100 extra dollars can make all the difference.

List it on Ebay for $1500 no reserve & local pickup only & it should sell quick. Your going to have to take a hit. Theres a chance someone may bid it up to closer to what you want for it though.
Central & south FL are hard sells for an old Explorer. And $2500 is too much. Unless it's in pristine condition & under 100K miles. I got my 94 with 72K on it 3 years ago for $4500.
I look at it from a buyer's view. A 12-13 year old suv that has no power, bad gas mileage, no features, & 112K miles for $2500........Or a 5-8 year old suv that has more power, better features & less mileage for around $5K....

Also keep in mind the used car market is flooded. Your not going to get the $ that any website says. Add gas prices into the mix & it's an old SUV & that ='s bad things if your selling an Explorer, but good if your looking to buy 1.

I bought my 92 EX for $1800 3 years ago. Like yours it had 80,000 miles on it too. I think it has about 105,000 on it now. Comes out to about 8,000 miles per year I-we put on it.

I just bought my 94 Limited with 119,000 miles on it, and a few things wrong (radius arm bushings, gas guage) in Cleveland for $2,000. It's clean, leather interior, virtually every possible option, it's a nice truck, I figure it was a good deal.

I could never sell my explorer and come even close to what money its actually worth in parts.....

I just joined this site today. I bought a 93 Explorer Sport 4x4 this weekend for $1350. It has 83,811 original miles, but there is some rust and the 4x4 isn't working right now. I'm going to wait for it to get warmer to diagnose the 4x4, but I'm guessing it's the shift motor. This is my 4th X, but it's also the oldest one I've owned.
