explorer wont start

im new to the sight my explorer is not starting for some reason i went out for work about a week ago and it started fine but the abs light was on so i shut the truck back off to see if the light was just stuck on for some reason and i went to start it back up and it wouldnt do anything all the lights are on like they normally are if you were to start it but when you turn the key the brake light come on and the theft light blinks had the key checks to make sure the chip was fine and it is any ideas let know thanks

If the theft light is flashing when the ignition is on then the key is not being recognized by the PATS module.

The service manual says the light will flash every 2 seconds with ignition off and will go out in 3 seconds when the ignition is turned on.

You said you had the keys checked, exactly how was that done?

If non of your keys work try this.

Here is a little tip for the 98 explorer, it worked for me, if you turn the ignition on and the theft light keeps flashing, turn it off then slam the tilt all the way up and down then try it again. The problem is the wiring harness in the searing column.

had it towed to a dealer they said its the pat system in the colum and a battery problem and they had to make another key first told me $786.00 told them to take off the battery then told me $686 then she told me she would take off 20 percent 486 total all with in 3 minutes
