sounds like the float rod is bent down too far. how long will it run after it reads empty ?

dont know never had it that low, but im bout to drop my tank, making beefier skid plate for it.

check out the feeder line for your gas tank, it may be krimpt or possibly going down to far into the tank (can't think how that would happen but *shrug*) Have you tried holding the gas handle on the slowest speed to see if it would take more slowly???

How do you know for sure how much gas is in there? It holds about 21 gallons. The fuel light comes on after there is about 2 gal left. How much are you getting at the pump. Maybe thats not accurate either. The sending unit is a variable resistor (basicly).A full tank=160 ohms an empty tank=15 ohms. I think one of the earlier sport models had a smaller tank. I don't know for sure, but it's posable to get an incorrect sending unit.

Just trying to help.

not completely sure on how much is in there, just going by the gauge, had it on e no lite came on,stoped to put in 35,and it only took 25 then kicked off the pump. didnt get my tank droped today out of weld wire again so ill try agin tomorrow

The float could also have ahole in it and be partialy filled with fuel, causing it to rid in the middle of the fuel instead of on top of it.

First Generations dont' have fuel lights... we aren't that advanced, lol

wow my fuel light must not be working either LOL.

Hey man. This thread was origonally posted on the 2nd gen section and got moved. Cut me a little slack! Any way, even on a 2nd gen that light would be comming from the same source as the gauge. On E I'll bet he still has 3/8s tank. That 7 or so gallons will be obvious when he re-drops the tank.

Didn't mean to throw him off. You guys sure the bulb aint burned out LOL.

yeah man she got no lite ,finally on e so imma pull the tank,we will see whos right ,till then later.

Blacksheep called me out that. There is no light on a first generation. I was thinking of my wifes '97. If it weren't for that light on hers she would run out of gas every day. I haven't seen mine yet.

Good luck!

been gone for awhile the power wire fror the pump got wrapped round the float rod and only let it go up so high...my fault was rushin the day i put it in bet the ol lady coud have it done in an hour...i won lol
