Second gen explorer brake lines..... Stock Dorman replacement is 16 in long. I read a cherokee front lines will bolt on and are 17 inches. Russel makes a front line set for an xj with 0 to 1 inch of lift that measures 18inches in length, 2 inches longer then the explorer. Rough country also has cherokee extended lines that measure 27inches long, that are 11 inches longer then my oem ford ones. Question is do I use the russel lines with the extra 2 inches over oem or do I use the rough country lines that are 11 inches longer? 98 explorer soon to have 12 in coilover conversion and uniball upper a arms.

I'm running a set of jeep brake lines on my superlift setup with coilovers. I think they are from an XJ.

Let me add in that I have tried to use the same hoses on a superlifted truck with torsion bars and they don't fit too well.

Boomin how long are your lines? Im sitting stock without Superlift drop brackets but using taller shock towers to accommodate the 12inch coilover. Im just curious if I need 2 in longer lines or if the 10 in longer is to much

Do you really even needed longer ones at all? With a uniball upper arm you will probably only get 1" or 2" more travel, so I'd say the 2" longer ones would be more than fine, but are the stock lines at full droop and turned even stretched close to tight? And a 12" coilover seems way too long for a stock width vehicle which will not even be getting 12" travel at the wheel. I had long travel and only an 8" coilover.

My lines are stock jeep lines. Factory lines would have worked until I put the limit strap in. The jeep ones go around the strap well. They are stock length, not extended.

Also he is talking 12" spring not 12" travel. A uni ball arm will not gain you any extra downtravel on a superlift setup. I max out my cv's no problem with the stock upper arm. The pic I posted is about 5 years old and I have different limit straps now but same brake lines still.

I'm not a fan of steel braided hoses either, not enough flex in the lines. I only use them if I have to.
