Hey guys,

It appears as though the factory subwoofer attached to my factory Pioneer 6-Disc Ford radio is blown. I'd like to replace it, but I'd like to know what I should get before I tear into it.

Do you guys know the factory dimensions and does anyone know an ideal replacement for it? I guess the factory amp is 80 watts RMS?

Thanks!!!

Todd,

from what i have read on this site i believe a 8inch sub would fit in there not sure on the amp size

The manual shows the subwoofer and woofer box as all one piece so I can't tell you much about it.

This thread should be moved to the 02 section; I think this Explorer is a little different than ours and someone in there might know offhand, since they have one themself.

Yeah, I've gotten that a few times. But the forum header says "02+ Sports and Sport Trac".

Mine is identical to the 2001 model too.

I almost think there should be a seperate forum for 01+ Sports and Sport Tracs. Although, not as many people would visit it and we'd lose a lot of the expertise from this forum.

need an answer for which sub to buy to replace my sub.. 2002 eddie bauer explorer. stock amp stock enclosure. just subwoofer upgrade. thanks

Ford won't tell you jack about the sub or amp. The sub is a 2 ohm DVC 6.5" or 8" and the amp is a 50x2 mas and 40x2 RMS. Your best bet for finding a replacement is an aftermarket for sure. Ford doesn't make it easy to get.
