I'm hoping someone could shed some light on this semi-annoying issue I'm having with my 1995 XLT. It was outfitted like a Limited and has the JBL system with sub in the rear. It has a factory 6-disc CD changer in the armrest, which works fine, except for one thing. When I turn the car off and back on, the CD player will resume the correct disc and track, but not the place within the track where it left off. I have found that it WILL resume correctly if I leave the key on and turn the stereo off and back on (by pushing the volume button). But as soon as I turn the ignition off and back on again it's like it loses its place. My question is for those of you with 95's with factory sound. Do your changers do the same thing? It's really annoying (maybe I'm just spoiled because my last car's in-dash player would go to the exact point it stopped at even if I turned the ignition off).

So of course my next question is "is this repairable" if indeed it is a problem? Anyone have any sort of expertise or even opinion to share? I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

Dan Esmond

I have a 96 and it does the same thing. My father has a 99 and I believe his does the same thing as well. It is complete normal. It just how the player works.

I have a 1996 Ford Explorer XLT with the factory 6-disc CD changer in the armrest and it does the same thing. I agree, it is very annoying. Also, mine skips a LOT to the point where the CD player won't recognize the discs anymore and turns off. This happens whenever I hit any sort of bump, crack, pebble, etc. on the road. I hate this thing and want either an in-dash CD changer, or just in-dash CD player. I would like a factory one. What model years could be compatible with my 96 X? Thanks.
