I recently cam across these guys who sell factory radios with BT or AUX functionality added.

Unfortunately they are out of stock of the units that would fit my 1997 Mountaineer and do not seem to know when they will get more.

Does anyone know of an outfit which sells a similar product?

Alternatively, if someone wants to sell me a stock radio with a functioning cassette, I am not above using a cassette adapter for my AUX input. :)

Surely they take old units, refurbish and upgrade them. Maybe contact them and see if you can send yours in for upgrade.

I did speak with them today and asked if they took cores, etc and the guy I spoke to was not super knowledgeable on the process which got me started thinking maybe these guys are marketing someone else's product. He basically said they do not take cores so I have no idea how they get their starting point. Maybe they have people in the field scrounging the best condition radios they can find for their starting points and most of the cores people sent in were hot garbage so they stopped taking them.

Thanks!

What is your ultimate purpose, playing audio from your phone, or a memory card?

How about a cigarette lighter outlet powered (or run an alternate 12V supply if you need the lighter outlet for something else), FM transmitter, then find an empty frequency and tune the radio to that?

Many use bluetooth link to the source and/or a memory card that you put audio files on. Some have remote, USB charging outlet, hands free blueooth for phone calls, and more. I haven't even kept up with all the features because they're now a lot fancier than when I got mine (which amazon no longer sells).
