ok so i have a 2000 mountaineer with premium stereo(not Mach). it has a subwoofer/amp in the rear quarter. no sound coming from it.
how do i figure out what is broken? i just want the factory bass, not looking to rewire the whole system or anything.
i pulled the panel off, the amp and sub are removed. i hooked up the sub to a 9v battery and it will move. this means the sub is ok right? how do i test the amp? i have a multimeter, just not sure the proper way to test.
also i was reading somewhere that if you have a sub, then you have mach. i pull my headunit out and it has the premuim suffix in the serial number.i have no RDS button. infact, the headunit doesnt look like the models that ive seen with a button up there. only thing i can figure is maybe mercury did things differently than ford? was premuim available with a sub this year?
