My Transmission Needs Service But In The Meantime I Don't Think This Is Related To My Bad Transmission,.....yet. I Filled My 96' Xlt Full Of Gas To The Brim, And Drove Home Lastnight. I Woke Up This Morning And Now It Won't Start. It Turns Just Fine, And All The Electrical Is Fine, (we Jumped To Be Sure). It Just Won't Start. I Think It May Be Fuel Related, But We Found The Fuel Pump Reset Switch & That Did Nothing. Anyone Pleas Help Fast This Is Our Only Family Vehicle!!

Try opening the gas cap then closing it again. This used to happen in my old pontiac. Sometimes the cap would not vent properly and would restrict the flow of fuel. I'm not sure if this will work for you but it used to work for my old pontiac.

After the car has been sitting for awhile, you should hear the fuel pump run after you turn the key to on - (car should sit 20 minutes or so to let the fuel pressure bleed off - pump should then turn on and pressurize fuel system.)

If you don't hear the pump, try swapping the fuel pump relay under the hood with another relay - check the owners manual for location.

You can also check for spark at the plags - pull the fenderwell liner, pull a plug boot off, place it close to the engine or frame, and watch for a spark while cranking the engine. If you have no spark, swap the relay for the computer and try again.

Post back if you cannot get the fuel pump to work or spark at the plug.
