Well guy's I finally have my X back on the road again and this time w/a Apten chip. I didn't realize how much I missed driving it. The reason it took so long is because I have been looking for an exotic car insurance company to cover me and I had such a hard time. Well finally I found one that would take my X and w/the Apten chip I love my X even more. See ya on the road guy's :D

You pushing 4K yet? :D

what would regular insurance do if someone sideswiped him and then found out there were no parts to fix it? they would cut him a check for like $5500 and total it. if i had a Saleen, id have exotic insurance on it too.

I understand that point. However, I have insurance though Shelter Ins. I have a NO LIMIT Aftermarket endoursement on my insurance. I pay a very small amount for that additional covererage. It will cover any and everything I have done to my Truck. ie... I was just in that frontend colosion where some a-hole cut me off and ran into stopped traffic and I hit him. So I took my truck to the body shop, they did their estimate. Then I had them add in the HID's for full retail cost of replacment. I ordered the HID's at a local Ricer shop and the bodyshop paid for them. Then the bodyshop was paid for the lights. I installed them so it was done right and clean.

Beleve me I have grilled my insurance agent and they would have to right me a pretty hefty check if my truck was totaled. I would basicly get purchace price or full retail for everything I have added.

So back to my orgional question. Why pay premium prices for Exotic ins when you can just add on the coverage to your normal ins?

Now the Exotic ins might be very low based on the extremely low miles driven on that X. So that is something I would like to know. How Much is the ins?

yes Matt, but you are also talking about replacable parts. nothing on a Saleen Explorer is replaceable (finding stuff every few months on ebay doesnt count). i would also assume it would take into consideration the fact that its not a daily driver, and is rarely driven. maybe tommy will enlighten us.

on a side note, i talked to a guy here a while back that had a Roush mustang. he said he had alot of trouble just finding an agent that would even touch his car. and this is considering the fact that parts are still available.

James you forget the ammount of Saleen parts I have on my Explorer. I know they can't be replaced :(, and that part sux. But what are they going to do? Just cut him a check for a set value, right. The same as my setup.

Saleen Parts:
Wing
Front Sway bar
Rear Sway bar
C/F Mirrors
All 4 Shocks are Racecraft Bilsteins from Saleen

Plus I have a lot of custom work that Only I have an idea of what they are worth. I would only expect a check for me to start on my next project with.

I hope he gets back on here so that we can stop discussing this and get some direct information. :p

88vert.....thanks

98FordX24 ......I am just about to hit 3,900 :D

The reason for the exotic insurance was that I was paying more then double w/ regular insurance then what I pay now and for the amount I drive it, Plus regular insurance was only giving me the value of a regular 98 X. The problems I came across getting exotic insurance was (1.) that I am under 30 (2.) the X is to new and (3.) they don't cover SUV's. The only limit I have is I can't go over 1,000 miles per year which won't be a problem since I bought a new toy a 70 SS Chevelle.

:)

Thanks for clarification. That is exactly what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure. Who is your provider?

Since you only drive your truck under 1,000 miles a year (under 20 miles per week!) the chances of you getting into an accident is very slim. Wouldn't the extra premium you pay better spent on mods?

I live in NY, my liability is $1k a year, just to compare. Well, I know, you can't really compare since our trucks are completely different breed.

Black Magic.........The name of the insurance provider is Voyager Insurance. I can't remember the under writer comapnys name but they are a A+ rated insurance company. I had a good friend who is a brooker look them up for me.

X-factor.....just to throw #'s at you, with regular insurance I was paying $1,850 for full coverage a year w/the value of regular X. After my wedding, new (to me) house and my daughter I could not afford it. That is why my X has not been on the road since the summer of 01. With the exotic insurance I am paying $800 a year w/full coverage and the X valued at $50,000. Now with the $$$ I am saving I'll have $$$ for some mods

Wow, okay, Tommy. I got it figured out wrong. I thought getting an exotic insurance cost more than a regular insurance. Well, I'm glad it worked out for you.

Hey BM, you just called my Explorer, worthless. Well thankyouverymuch sir. :D

No, I don't get it. YOU don't disrespect me like that!

LOL, just kidding BM. I know you're a gentleman and scholar of this forum. :D Very rare on this site. ;)

come on matt are you saying that my x ( which needs a new bumper and brackets and new side fenders and currently has holes all donw the passenger sides from getting dents pulled) is worthless ? o well good point lol

as soon as mine gets paid off (in about 6 months) its getting dropped to liability. all you gotta do is make sure you arent the one who causes the accident. i also know several friends in the body industry, so if need be i can proly have it fixed for the price difference of full vs. liability. for me-

full coverage on my 96- $1200 yr.

liability on my 96 - $375 yr.

if it were a newer vehicle, it would be worth it. but, mine is barely worth about $6k in great shape. not worth the extra $$$$ to me.

$375 for a year!?! I gotta move to Arkansas. :p

lol, my bronco is $250-something a year. :D

also, "way back when", i had a Honda CBR600F3 streetbike. full coverage was $2800yr., liability was $300. two years of full coverage would have paid for the bike.
