I finally got my subs installed and now they sound like:fart:. I have 2 comp vr 10s with a power acoustik OV2-820 running them off of the stock HU. The comp vrs are a DVC sub set at 2 ohms run of separate channels of the amp didn't have hardly any sound wired @ 4 ohms and bridged. We tapped the left rear door speaker for the LOC. If I had known it was going to sound this horrible I would have left it alone.
The amp is rated @ 180rms@4ohmX2 or 230rms@2ohmX2 or 460rms@2ohm mono.
If anyone can help me get this thing halfway staightened out it would be greatly appreciated. The 2 Jensen 10s and 200w pioneer amp in my last truck hit harder than this setup does:mad:

Did you install a line level converter? Did you bypass the factory amp? WHat do you mean you tapped the door speaker for the LOC?

Get a new HU and run low inputs. Common, You know you want to.

Were did you get the speaker leads from. Make sure that the polarity is right on the input of the converter. It may just be that you are out of phase on one of your connections

Something is not hooked up right, those Comp VR's should blow the Jensen's out of the WATER!

heres the problem, and i am 90% all of what i say will be true, unless you got a crossed wire or something we can't know....

but heres the BIG PROBLEM

kicker= good
power acoustik = bad
power acoustik OVERRATES THEIR STUFF.

if it says 180 watts x 2 at 4 ohms, its probably more around 100-120 watts x 2 at 4 ohms, they are really really bad at over ratting their products.

let me ask you, what size fuses are in that amplifer?

the reason the jensen 10's and Pionner amp did better, is because the pionner amp is probably as efficient as the power acoustik.....

sorry but "POWER ACOUSTIK" gets their power by over rating their products.

good luck my friend

Ouch! Sucks to hear that. I know what I'll never buy.

yea
i just realized how rude i might sound saying it

but the truth is thats how power acoustik is.

i hope i don't offend you arg99E.B.
that wasn't my intention

we tapped the left rear door speaker wire for the line converter. If you turn the bass all the way up and the volume about 3/4 to all the way it hits but has a lot of distortion. I know the Power Acoustik is over rated on power but that pioneer amp was a 45 watt rms amp, so this should give me the juice I need. As of right now my factory sub is hitting harder than the two 10s  The only reason I got the PA amp was I returned some parts to the local speed shop, and it was either take a 30% restock fee or an even exchange. If anyone has the speaker wire colors for a 99 EB with the stock sub it would be greatly appreciated.

Amp setup

Gain controls not properly set on Amp? Carefully read your manual again and ensure that your gains are properly set. Also you said that your Subs are dual voicecoil....are they properly wired? If wired in Parallel a dual voice coil will give the following load:

- Dual 2 Ohm (vc) = 1 Ohm load
- Dual 4 Ohm (vc) = 2 Ohm load

Series wiring should present the following loads:

- Dual 2 Ohm (vc) = 4 Ohm load
- Dual 4 Ohm (vc) = 8 Ohm load

Hope this helps.....Good luck!

Thanks for everyones suggestions. Turns out the guy who hooked up the line converterdidn't wire it correctly, took it to a friend who installs for circuit city he fooled with it for about 15 min. and its amazing what happens when you wire something correctly. The stock HU will have to stay for awhile, but will hopefully be soon replaced with a 7" wide screen:D Thanks again for all your input.
