Hello every one I have been getting on this site for a few years getting ideas for a build on my wifes 93 explorer. We have gotten a new car for her so now the old explorer is mine to build.
I have enjoyed wheeling in Oregon for the last 15 years in various rigs from a suburban on 37s to a samurai on 33s with a yota and a few full sizes in between.
I enjoy riding my motorcycles with my wife and older son, and with my buddies when I can. We ride the coast range and the cascades mostly. every once in a while we put on the paddles and hit the dunes down at the coast. I should probably get back to my plans for my rig.
I have a 93 xlt with a 5speed trans and manual tcase. Pretty much completely stock other than the stereo, my wife liked it that way. I plan on a sas and running eather 33 or35 inch tires. I decided I am going to do leaf springs instead of control arms or radius arms, do to simplicity and durabuility. I have begun getting parts together for my build I have a dana 30 out of a yj that I am going to use that I picked up for $100 and a low pinion 30 out of an xj that i picked up for $50 that I am just steeling the axle shafts out of and reselling. I have a new set of 4.56 ukon gears and master install kit that I found for $100. Craigs list has been good to me so far.
