Fix one problem, another MAJOR one occurs

I was driving home from work and i noticed my Ex was shifting a little funny, a picture of my girlfriend is blocking a part of my dash so i moved it to see if my check engine light had come on and boom the o/d off light is flashing and i about had a heart attack since last weekend i replaced the engine. The speedometer is going batshit crazy and it is shifting very erratically, now the panic ensues and the speedo stops all together and then anxiety sets in I run a computer on it and it says that the VSS is malfunctioning, i replace it and to no avail, the speedo does not work and the tranny is shifting extremely hard, does anyone have any ideas at what it could be?

Which speed sensor did you replace?

the one in the tranny, the mechanic at my work to try the one in the rear

so i replaced the sensor in the rear and im still having the problem, anyone have any clues?

Did you take the battery cable off for a few minutes and then try it again. You could have put the tranny into limp mode. Reseting the comp will check it.

There's a ton of other things it can be. Valve body gasket, sensors, transfer case.

I'd also check it again for another code.

i did remove the battery cable to reset it a few times my friends dad thinks that when we put the motor in we forgot a ground somewhere or one of them is not properly hooked up, because it wasnt letting him check the computer all the way through, it kept saying it was incomplete, so im going to go back through and check all of the grounds. I drove it from his house to my moms yesterday and the o/d off light turned off on my way there, it was a bit strange but a breath of fresh air at the same time because it was operating fine. But, within the next day or two i'll be rechecking all of my grounds.
