Recently my truck ate its first flexplate...

I went to a junkyard and got another one from a 94'. I took it to school and my teacher said "hold on, I'll show you something funny." He took an O/A torch to the flexplate to heat it up and we actually watched these microscopic cracks grow...waste of $35.

Anyway, I hear Ford has a newer flywheel thats "updated and stronger". Being in Canada, does that apply to me too? ( ;) ) I'm afraid if I go to the dealership and fork out the $200+ dollars that they'll just give me a new-old part (a new flywheel, but from 1991). Is there any chance of this or do they only give the newer updated ones? I dont need to go through this again....or do these "updated" parts fall apart too?

ps. Does anyone else know of somewhere that sells first gen' flywheels that perhaps don't break?

pss. How long does it take for a dealership to get the part? I need it ASAP for racecar hauling :) Can they overnight it for me if I ask? Or do they do it anyway?
