Guys I'm in a bind. I did a cam/head swap on my rig and I can't get the stock Explorer valve covers to fit over the FMS 1.6 roller rockers. I switched to GT-40 X Aluminum heads

I knew I would have a problem with the driver's side up at the front from other posts but it seems alot worse than what others have posted. I'm also having a problem with the passenger side way in the back.

To those who switched to 1.6 rollers did you just have to pound the corners with an air hammer or did it require more modifications. My rig is down and it has to be back up for Monday.

Thanks!!!!!

email or PM a member here by the name of Section525. he had the same issues, and just beat the crap out of it with a hammer. just be careful, if you get over-zealous it will leak.

Yeah, I used an air hammer and placed the valve cover on a big bag of lawn seed. You need to put it on something firm, yet something that'll allow the valve cover to bulge. :D

I used a bag of sandbox sand :) My kids will like the addition to their sandbox when I'm done.

I had an air hammer but no rounded end bit so I used a ball pean hammer instead. I also did the front and back corners of each VC to give a little extra room.

Also for valve cover gaskets I'm using the Felpro Permatorque VC gaskets that are resuable and twice as thick as the standard cork gaskets.
