Hi, please forgive me if this has been covered I could not find a definitive answer.

My 3rd gen FOBs are getting a little worn out and I want to buy a couple of replacements.

Currently I have the 3 button style FOBs (lock, unlock and trunk).

I was wondering if I buy the 4 button FOBs (extra button is panic) will the extra button work or not since it didn't come this way put of the factory?

You have the wrong ones, I'm assuming you didn't buy your Exp new.

You're supposed to have the 4 button one and the 4th (blue) button will open the rear glass.

If you're willing to keep the same style you could save a lot of money and just replace the cases thus also not have to deal with reprogramming. I myself make a point to never open the rear glass, don't want it accidentially getting broken. I have "the crack" and my latch don't properly line up so I have to lift on it to get it to close.

Sorry I meant to say rear glass not trunk

These are the ones I have:

I've bought 3 3rd gens second hand and they all came with this type of fob

This is what I am hoping to change to:

Reason being I just want to have the panic button also.
Our Ford Falcons over here and some other models have the 4 button style so they are cheap as

The 3 buttons are harder to come by although still cheap enough.

I can get 2 of the 4 button style complete for under $20AUD delivered

That's pocket change compared to a Subaru or BMW fob that I've had to shell out for in the past.

Ya any will "work" whether all the buttons do something is up to what options the vehicle has.

I once used a 4 button on a F150. The blue glass button did nothing but turn on the cargo light.

I would think the panic button you'd gain would work, I've never come across a Ford keyless system that didn't have it.
