Ford 8.8 Posi

I found a 8.8 Ford Posi for sale. It was in an 8.8 with 28 spline axles. Will this work on my Explorer? I don't think it will but I wanted to check.

I also wanted to ask everyone what they felt about the Ford Posi unit. From what I have gathered, I understand that the life of these units is limited and there is definately better. How difficult are these units to rebuild? What kinds of issues has everyone run into with these? Any inforamtionis appreciated.

Most likely it won't work, cuz your Ex has 31 spline shafts.

The Ford posi is called a Trac-lok, and if you do a search, you'll find threads on peoples' opinions, and how to rebuild it tighter. Good luck, and tell us what you do.
