Ford Announces new MFT release for the 2013 summer.

This is how Ford works with these updates. They give a general release date and then as the time gets closer, they either push it back or get more specific. Usually they release it to dealers first. You can then go to the dealer and have it done (free of charge) or wait until it shows up either in the mail or via syncmyride.

There will never be the "magical" fix that makes MFT what it should be. Part of it is Ford's stubbon refusal to truly beta test the software. Part of its Ford's decision to use Flash. Part of it is just the nature of the beast -there are too many different peripherals that MFT has to integrate with. Too many different peripheral device manufacturers with different interpretations of the Bluetooth standard, etc....

I've had my Ex for over 2 years now and I'm on about release #4 and honestly, I haven't seen much if any improvement. in some ways the newer releases are better, but in other ways they are worse (no progress bar on the media player and smaller cover art come time mind). My thought is that the best we can hope for is small improvements.

couldnt have said it better myself... MFT is such a flop that it will most likely steer me away from Ford when it comes to future vehicle purchases.

Very well stated, I couldn't agree more.

Its too bad really because its not just a couple of people on a forum complaining, MFT has plummeted Fords quality rating significantly since its release.

Interestingly enough Ford continues to state that lots of people are choosing Ford BECAUSE of MFT, which really speaks to its potential. Unfortunately, I fear that Ford is going to shoot itself in the foot because MFT may never live up to that potential.

I mean, some of these bugs are so ridiculously obvious that I wonder if they even tested the thing before they released it. Ford needs to have a little more pride in their code. I remember when they first released version 3 and I immediately found a bug in their wallpaper add/delete screen that was ridiculous. Add 3 wallpapers, delete the middle one and suddenly the list of wallpapers is messed up. How the hell does that even pass unit testing? I really suspect it was never tested because if it was, it would have failed just about every test that I would have run. As a former professional programmer I would be embarrassed if something like that slipped out.

Right now, I have a Droid RAZR MAXX HD and when I get a text message, MFT notifies me twice and puts the same message in my inbox twice. The text message functionality works which is nice, but its frustrating because it still is buggy.

among all the glitches that reside within MFT, there are several basic annoyances that just make the entire system so clunky. for example:

if you're browsing for a song on your ipod, and you quickly jump to the navigation screen, when you come back to the entertainment tab, you have to begin your search from scratch. HATE THAT

when I start my EX in an indoor garage, when I get on the road it take up to 20 mins for my navigation to catch satellites. how could it be possible for me to have working SATELLITE radio but no working GPS for 20 mins?

there should be an advanced notification for scheduled system maintenance!! its completely random and sometimes just shuts down on me when I am enroute to a location!! give me a 30 mins warning at least!!

ever since the 3.5 update, I can no longer quickly skip tracks on my ipod. when I hit the next track button 3 or 4 times in succession, it gets stuck on the current track until it's done. TERRIBLE.

that's just the beginning... I have zero faith in this upcoming update

That's because the "scheduled system maintenance" isn't scheduled. It's a euphemism for MFT rebooting because of some system error.

The scheduled maintenance screen is actually just the bootup screen for MFT. Anytime it reboots it's going to show this screen, it's not really a scheduled maintenance. Really MFT just crashed and reboot on you, there is no way to give a warning before it crashes :)

Sooo. Any word on the release date. This thread has turned into a I hate MFT because...... I have all the empathy in the world for those who suffer from the MFT glitches. Most of the time it's because people are overloading it with iPod music with a bazillion songs on it. It's a peripheral system. It's not your home computer or a 64 GB iPhone.

I use mine for nav and talking on the phone. My iPhone 5 has about 400 songs on it. I also use spotify and Pandora. No glitches or reboots. Works fine. Yes there are explorers with crappy APIMS. I think some are asking too much from this system and overloading it. 1500 contacts and 64 GIG of songs will slow down a system. Seriously. Why would you try to hook up an external hard drive. Use an 8GB memory stick.

I've had 2 Explorers. A Ltd 11 and a Sport 13. I've had no problems with MFT. Guess I'm just lucky.

90 contacts and 170 songs, still had issues. Granted I had a new iPhone and the latest update. For two weeks the system was in a constant state of "scheduled" maintenance, indexing and building voice commands. It has finally reached a point of stability. The navigation seems to have improved although the map frequently does not display street names. I am also experiencing the skip track three times then freeze phenomenom.
I guess we'll see what the next update brings us.

I use iTunes and Spotify for music as well as Pandora with an iPhone 5. No issues at all works great. Shows artist and song titles but no album art.

OK... i'll delete 3500 of my songs JUST so MFT will work better. Nevermind all the other devices i connect my ipod to that work swimmingly... brilliant!

My question to you sir... if your MFT works so great, why are you asking for a date on the update release?

Mine works just fine as well but I am also interested in when the next update will be released. Being curious doesn't have to do with whether an individual's MFT is working well or not.

That's correct Peter. I just want to see what changes might be coming. With every update there seems to be changes like the infamous temperature being removed from the center stack. Caused a bit of an uproar. Not sure why some on here seem so quick to jump on people. Love my Explorer and MFT. It's an awesome system. Like I said. I empathize for those experiencing difficulty and I hope it gets fixed. :D

Im thinking the MFT might want to connect directly to the net on my MiFi and do Pandora and spotify, google earth, ect

just wishing

My geek friend has a carputer the size of a pack of cigarettes interfaced to a kenwood car stereo display and MiFi..... basically surfs the net (on preprogrammed icons) weather radar, web radio,

Man! I saw this thread and got all excited thinking there was an update only to be let down that it is over a year old.

Peter, can you change the title of this thread to have (2013) in there? :)

All done my friend. I guess it's all part of the highs and lows, excitement :bounce: and disappointment :( of a Forum as active as this one.

Peter

Thanks!! You da man :D
