Ford explorer 2007 dashboard lights

HELP! I'm a new member with a 5 year old explorer with numerous issues, but this one is maddening! The lights are out on my dashboard AND the gear shift area, as well.
Any ideas if i can do this myself? been told that I must remove the ENTIRE dashboard to repair this.....really?? come on now....

Any luck? My 2007 Sport Trac dash light just quit. Fuse OK. Tried new one. No luck. Same fuse powers the anti-theft LED indicator and that light works. Help!

I just did the shifter in mine and it was an easy process, sorry I can't comment on the dash lights but good luck.

Just as mysteriously as they went dark, they lit up again a couple of days later. I'm guessing a corroded coupler or cracked board. I'll be studying up for when it happens again.
