@Daniel Goodwin
It is likely telling you that the Torque Converter Clutch is not being engaged, based on your mph numbers. You can determine that by checking your tachometer after reaching the speed you mention, on flat non-hilly roadway, by slightly increasing foot pressure on the gas pedal. If the tach jumps higher when you do that, the TCC is NOT engaged. Key is LIGHT added pressure.

How do you know your Overdrive still works? We need to retrieve the computer code(s) here to further elaborate, (free at any major auto parts store), and then proceed. If the TCC solenoid has failed, you may continue driving as long as you like, paying a penalty of perhaps 4% more fuel cost.

when at the 50 mph speed with the overdrive off button light flashing, If I push the button I can feel the truck gear down, I have to push it again to get it to go back into the higher gear but the light still flashes.

Ive also got a problem getting fuel to go into the tank, I have to sit and babysit the fuel handle just letting a slow trickle into the tank, takes a LONG time to fill it up. I have taken the air bleed hose off and blew thru it, but that doesnt seem to help. Any other ideas.

Clogged tank vent hose.

The only code it ever threw was a p1450, unable to bleed fuel

IMO, the tank venting problem would be more important, you can drive w/o Torque Converter Clutch OR 5th. gear forever if you want to, assuming no other problem exists in the transmission. After all, some guys constantly tow heavy things, and have 5th. gear, Overdrive, always locked out manually. imp

@koda2000
Any ideas on the OP? imp

The fuel tank has 2 hoses attached to it. A small diameter one and a larger diameter one. The smaller one is the vent hose, the larger one is the fill hose. They are both connected to the rear of the fuel tank on one end and the metal filler neck on the other end. If the vent hose becomes clogged/kinked/collapsed it is very difficult/slow to put fuel in the tank because the air can't escape as the gas goes in. The OP should check the smaller hose and metal filler neck.

ok I just went out and looked again, there are 3 hoses in one area, The filler tube, the small one hose and a medium one, I can blow thru the mediumone and I can hear fuel gurgling. How do I check the small one?

Is the small hose a plastic hose that goes from the top of the tank to the charcoal canister over the spare tire? If so that one is part of the emissions evaporation system and I don't see why that would have anything to do with your filling issue.

The medium sized hose should be the vent going back up to the metal fuel filler pipe. I don't see why you should hear fuel gurgling when you blow through this hose. I don't own an '05 so IDK if the fuel tank design changed from the '01, but the vent hose should just be for air to escape during filling. Can you tell if the gurgling is from the vent hose (like the resistance you feel when blowing thru a straw into a full glass of milk) or is it just the noise of fuel being pushed up the fill pipe? How full is your tank? It should never be so full that the fuel can block the vent pipe. Besides the hose going to the fuel tank you need to make sure the smaller metal pipe going to the top of the filler neck is clear.

The small hose tube is metal that connects with the filler neck, it goes down so far then there is an actual hose connect to the metal one which looks like it goes to the top of the tank. The medium hose is the one I was able to blow thru, it comes up and attaches to the sidewall of the fender area. That one seemed clogged but after blowing thru it it was free, but I can hear gurgling thru it. My tank is only about 1/2 full

How do I check the smaller one? Do I need to take off the rubber hose and try to blow thru it? How can I tell if its collapsed?

Here is a pic of the medium hose, it has the clip on the end, This is the one I can blow thru from the top and I can hear gurgling thru it.
