Hey guys whats up i was thinking of going Nitrous one day but would really like to beaf the Internals of the motor so i will feel better about knocking her with some boost. Does anyone know of a place that makes forged Pistons or anything else for the motor. I was thinking i would have to get a local chop to make them but who knows. Thanks all and long live the SOHC 4.0

so far basically nobody.. I think there is some race company but I remember it being nearly 2k..seriously too much cash

Yeah that is alot but maybe since the Sport Trac is so popular it will help us out. I think the clear corners and billet grill and everything are all because the Sport Trac. Thank God for the Sport Trac.

THe sport trac seems pretty popular, but i dont think itll help us in this area sadly enough. You know how many 4door explorers have this engine? tons of em. along with the sports. Maybe someone will wake up and realize this market.

If anyone knows, it will be Doug904. I suggest sending him an email or PM.

you send me one rod and one piston and i will have a new forge set for you in about a month or so for under 2000. it is not a big deal.

 $2000! I am not really familiar in this area. But isn't that alot for something like that?!? That just seems like too much. You could buy a V8 for that.

Plus SOHC Engines do not have Rod's how much if i send just the pistons.

Every piston engine has rods. What do you think connects the crank to the pistons?

j/k man.:p

if you want i will get a better quote for you but if they do not have them in stock then i will need both of them to make copies of them.

How big of a shot are you thinking about? The stock parts should be good for 75-100 maybe a little more (but I wouldnt start there!) If you are hjust out for fun and not pushing it down the track I dont think forged rods are needed, pistons yes if you really use the bottle.

The sohc has no PUSH rods , but it does have CONNECTING rods. Big difference.

Polish the stock rods and call a custom piston company like Probe Industries, or JE pistons they should be able to set you up, 6-800 bucks for the pistons.

Good Luck

forged rods and pistons with lower compression would be awesome! (for the right price)

As for Nitrous, I wouldnt go over 75 on stock internals. Also it limits boost to about 6psi. If you could run 8-10, now youre talkin bein worth the cost of a blower setup.

He was probably thinking pushrods...

.

For a N20 engine wouldnt you want higher compression - cooling effect of the N2O would allow a bit more static. Pushing a few extra HP.

Nitrous is just like forced induction in terms of compression. The lower the compression, the less chance of detonation and engine damage.

yes, but nitrous loves compression. its taking a step backward to drop compression just for nitrous. cutting back the timing and adding more fuel will work alot better.

Yeah oops i ment that the wrong way i got Pushrods and Piston ROds mixed. I am just wanting to make the motor strong for whatever i do around here i am somewhat well known for running anyone no shame in the game. Oh and yeah i hear from everyone to run a 75 shot and the ZEX kit for a Ford V6 goes up to 75 pills thats the Dry kit. Thanks guys i'm learning more everytime i talk on here.

You don't need new internals for a 75 shot.
