I was changing the upper control arms on my wifes 04 xlt, when i went to do the driver side a wire kept getting in my way so i popped the hood to pin it back out of the way, when i noticed this hose with a broken plastic connector on the end just hanging below the brake fluid reservoir. i dont see any spot where it is supposed to go or what it is to replace the hose.

Kinda looks like it is an ac or ps line with the crimped connector on the end.

so i traced the hose back to the intake manifold just after the throttle body http://i.imgur.com/EwgENq4.jpg

and i believe i found where it is supposed to go but no idea what it is. it matches up with a hole right on the other side of that thing with the green cap http://i.imgur.com/9gUqhot.jpg
this pic is a little blurry but you can basically see where it broke off from [Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/oFb40o9.jpg)
it appears i can unbolt this from the frame, im tempted to try and fix this, maybe jb weld or some other kind of epoxy. http://rapid-fix.com/newsite/index.php/rapidfix-uv
can anyone tell me what the part the hose goes to is? or how this hose being broken off will affect driving

that looks like the evap purge solenoid, are you not getting a check engine light with this?
one hose goes to the intake manifold, the other goes to the charcoal canister.
you are better off buying a new one, it's not expensive.

nope no check engine light, but i am getting a fuel cap light that a new petroleum byproduct cap didnt solve...thank you for the quick reply

ive found the part on advanced auto, for the hose with the broken connector, im guessing i need to yank out the plastic that broke off with the hose, and then slide the hose onto the new purge solenoid? once again thanks for the help, i had no idea what direction to go with this part

edit: yep connector came right out of the hose, 36 bucks for a new one and im all set thanks so much

For some reason the purge valve solenoid hose going to the intake was the only hose under my hood disintegrating. Just brushing
up against it would crumble and leave black marks on anything it touched. Rather than buying the expensive pre-formed OEM hose, reused the 90 degree elbow shown above the dipstick and EGR valve, and replaced with 3/8" Gates Barricade fuel injection hose.

So I got the part today swapped it out no problemo, but my fuel cap light is still on, I haven't drive anywhere yet but I was expecting it would should off once all the hoses were reconnected

ah, thank you for the quick reply, i had a feeling driving around might make it go away, but i also had a problem trying to recharge my ac after i swapped the part so i was hitting up the forum anyway...about the search, when i use my home pc anytime i use the search function i type in what i need to hit search but all i get is a page that says loading, and it says google custom search on the tab that it opens up...normally i have to use my phone for the search function and have no problems, just a pain to type alot on the phone when my hands are all greasy...once again thanks for the help
