I have 05 XLT V6. I have ordered a KKM intake and will install this week.
I want to open the exhaust up and my question is:
Is there much benefit to changing the pipe from the cat on back from 2.25" to 2.50", or will sufficient gain be accomplished with just replacing stock muffler?

I had 2.25 when my truck was stock and then upped the size when I lifted it to 2.50 - I personally didn't feel any difference. However, the bigger you go the more low end torque you lose. But if you stay around 2-1/4 and 2-1/2 you should be fine. Oh, and if your going to with 2.25 just leave the stock piping up (it's 2.25)

Going cat back with 2 1/2" pipe is a wise move for both power and mileage.

Good luck .....

I am interested mainly in mileage boost. I drive 80 miles a day. Every little bit helps.
The extra performance is butter.
