Hi! It's the first time that I post a message here. :exp:

I bought this summer a 2002 Ford Explorer XLT 4x4 with the V8 4.6L. I have a little problem with the air system. I think that the motor or something in the duck is stuck! The air in the front defrosts is not working... Therefore, my front windows is frizzing when I drive (I live in Montréal / Québec)... it's very inconvenient! Can someone tell me were I must look to find and fix the problem?

Merci !

Pepide... :)

Do you get any air from the vents in the dash? How about the floor?
If you do, then my guess is the blend door. This is a door in the vent system that moves and directs the air to different vents. I had this replaced under warranty on my 04 - $700 labor alone. The door itself is only $50

If you are not getting any air from any vent, then it sounds like the blower motor or the switch for the blower motor. Maybe the resistor too. The resistor is responsible for the fan speeds.

Yes, I get some air from the floor... I dismantled the glove compartment and doing this, it gave me the access to the rear of the dash. I have put my hand and search for something loose... I found a little rod that was loose... I push on it and the trap for the front air open... Therefore, I manually open the trap and arrange it to stay open for the winter... I will check on the motors in the summer... ! :)

Thank's !!
