I have a 96 XLT and would like to eliminate the vacuum acctuator on the front differential and replace it with a cable. Which adapter can I use?

Any help would be appreciated. Also do you know which dana differencial is on the 96?

Dana 35 I believe. Not sure on your other questions.

Thanks!
I will look in the catalog to see which cable but was in question which dana front differential it was.

I would like to get more reliablility then a vacuum acctuator. I have seen them go out in other vehicles.

I've seen them fail quite often on both Explorers and F-150s. Common problem (and, in fact, mine failed Sunday on my F-150). 4x4posi-lok makes one for the F-150, but I have not seen a replacement for the Explorers. Not sure if it would be possible to retrofit one to the Explorer, but I've seen a simple push-pull cable used in a pinch...

It's easy enough to bypass it with a zip tie. The best fix, IMHO, is to replace it with a live front axle from a 97-01 Explorer. Direct bolt-in... But you still need to bypass the electronics so it sees the front axle locking in.
