I got my X without the front drive shaft installed. T he guy I bought it from pulled one from a junk yard and I need to put it in. I refer to Chiltons and they say it's a balanced unit when you take it off you need to mark it so that it lines back up right. Well since it wasn't done by me it was not done. how can I go about fixing this? I also do not have any of the hardware I need just the shaft. I think I need a universal joint assembly and some snap rings, is that how it connects? I have looked for someone who did a write up on it but I have looked with no luck a pictured write up link or some words of advice would be great. the only access to my job is threw alot of mud I have gotten stuck every day it's humiliating to say the least and I'm missing all the fun please help me....thanks

Yep, a U-joint and you should be good. There is no way for you to balance the drive shaft. If you don't drive in 4x4 at any real speed then you don't need to worry about it. If you do, then you can take it somewhere (probably a tire shop) and have then balance it (add little weights) so that it doesn't vibrate at 45 mph.
