2006 explorer eddie
Hello all. I have a 2006 Explorer EB that needs the front struts replaced. My plan is to pull them off and take them to someone to swap the springs onto the new struts. According to certain service manual and one forum post on a 05' XLT, all that needs to be done is to undo the top and bottom mounting and remove. There is no mention of other components to disconnect, ball joints ect.. I am posting this to get a confirmation of the removal procedure from someone who has performed this task. Thanks for any assistance.

Upper ball joint should have to come out to allow the control arm to move enough to get the spring out. You will need a spring compressor to remove and replace springs on new struts. the brake caliper should be removed for easy access and abs line disconnected before you start.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I think the joint has to come off, maybe not neccessary but it will make it easier to perform the job.

I can tell you for sure it will have to :)
