I've got a 99 2wd, and for quite some time now it has been making this loud popping noise from the front end, more specifically, sounds like the front right. Its only over slow large bumps, like speed bumps or turning in and out of driveways. Its not the suspension bottoming out, i checked that. It just sounds like a metal to metal pop is the best way to describe it. Any ideas?

Make sure your swaybars are tight as well and that the bushings aren't worn down.

The swaybar bolts should be VERY tight.

huh you think it may be my front ones? Ford already replaced the rear swaybar end links. i might just take them the hell off see if that works!

Definitely possible. They'll make all kinds of noises if not tight. Check the end links and the main bolts on the X-member.

Do you have poly bushings? Sometimes that make noise.

Good luck.....

I just put poly bushings on for my sway bar end links and every time I turn full right then straiten out I hear and feel a niose sounding like two pieces of metal smacking into each other. Could the end links be the problem, I thought the links were tite enough on there, maybe not. Should I make the end links realy realy tight? I also just had my tie rods redone, but im pretty sure those were done rite. Is it possible that the tie rod end piece is not seated rite? Ive read and searched thru a lot of threads and couldnt find anything about this except for this thread and I didnt want to start a new thread so i figured i would just add to this thread. thanks for the help. :D

I also have like an "metal to metal" klunk/knirk noice, and i think its from the front suspension, like from the rear mount on the torsionbars it sounds from under the car sometimes. It's mostly over small quick bumps and if one wheel goes up and the other goes down like when braking in a turn or going over a bump in a turn only with one wheel. Im all stock and 34'miles and i didn't have the noice a week ago.
