So it's become apparent to me that the tweeters in the front door woofer/tweeter combo are a 16ohm tweeter and 4ohm woofer wired in parallel creating a 3.2 ohm impedance circuit driven by the amp in the 2011-2012 model year EXP's.

Has anyone replaced those front tweeters? I see a lot of talk of the woofer assembly being replaced and that 4-wire speaker harness seems to be a mystery but the only thing I can think is that's a parallel run for the tweeter.

Running a 4 ohm woofer and 4 ohm tweeter in parallel makes for a 2ohm impedance that I'm not sure the factory amp can handle....that is unless one of you has done it already.

It wouldn't appear there are 8 ohm woofer/tweeter combos that can be bought outright.....do component systems that are purchased have an overall impedance of 8 ohms when the setup is installed?

Well, at this point I'm just considering surface mounting new tweeters on the sail panels and leaving the existing tweeters in their location but disconnecting the wire to them.

Thanks Peter, I'd searched exhaustively but hadn't found directed info

A screen cap taken from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbDfXiIABJU (thanks Paul's Travel Pictures guy!) shows the tweeter is indeed integrated into the front door. Now the question is can I fabricate a mount for new tweeters from plumbers strapping that would keep the new tweeter in the same locale.

Were you able to install a fabricated mount for your tweeter replacement?

indeed. two small self tapping stainless screws, plumbers strapping, and adhesive weather stripping placed around existing opening to serve as a non-rattling gasket of sorts

picture stripped. on mobile with no way to adjust. blame Canada

Please resize your picture. It is waaay too large. Pictures should be kept in the 800 X 600 pix. That would make L/R scrolling unnecessary. Thanks.

Peter
