Probably been 5 years or more since I last did it, and I thought my gas mileage was suffering, but not really sure. Kind of a pita, but not really too bad. Just tight working space, and had to figure out the clips again. The good news is that I got it done, and NO SPECIAL TOOL IS REQUIRED.....sorry, not yelling, just happy I didn't have to use the dreaded tool like on previous generations.:thumbsup:

I'm going to cut the old one open to see what kind of crud is inside, and will post a pic :)

How many miles are on it? If it is only around 30k miles then it was due to be changed out and shouldn't be that bad, but it will be interesting to see just how much junk makes it through the fuel pump pickup in the tank.

At least 60K, maybe 75. It was a Fram filter, and the new one is a Motorcraft.

I would be interested to know if you see a change in your MPG.

Here's a pic of the insides of the fuel filter. Better than I expected, no big chunks, and a lot of dust came flying out when I was cutting it open. I flipped over a piece of the filter to show the original color of the paper. At least I think it's the original color. Looks like it did it's job trapping minute particles. It's a FRAM filter.
