Hello guys I hope you’re doing fine, I have a 1995 stock Ford explorer, usually when I turn the key to the ignition position I can hear the fuel pump working for just 2 seconds, lately I hear that the fuel pump is working for more than 5 seconds even 10, the problem is that the car starts and then dies, I turned again the key to the ignition position many times 5 or 8 and then the car works fine, today I replaced the fuel filter and the error continues, my question is: Is time to replace the fuel pump even when this one was replace 2 years ago? Or could be another issue?? :(
Thanks a lot

Alex

If you hear it running, check fuel pressure with a gauge.
If its ok, move onto the next step in troubleshooting.

Your fuel pump and/or filter are probably dirty or going bad. If you have to constantly turn the key from on to off before cranking to get it to start and stay running then I suspect the fuel pump however, it could also be a bad fuel filter. Best bet is to checked the fuel pressure with a test gauge on the fuel rail.

ok I will replace the pump, I do not have a gauge to test the PSI.
Thanks a lot

To finish this thread:
The PCM and Fuel pump relay were replaced.

The issue is gone completely.
