I contacted Explorer Express to inquire about suspension lifts for late model Explorers and I got this response via e-mail:

ERIC,
WE HAVE NO PLANS TO OFFER SUSPENSION LIFT KITS FOR EXPLORERS. EXPLORERS ARE UNSTABLE ENOUGH AT THE STOCK HEIGHT. LIFTING THEM JUST MAKES THEM WORSE SO WE DON’T RECOMMEND IT. WE DO HAVE A NUMBER OF PRODUCTS TO HELP IMPROVE THE HANDLING. IF YOU DON’T HAVE ONE OF OUR CATALOGS YOU CAN REQUEST ONE (THEY’RE FREE) BY CALLING US TOLL FREE AT 1-888-EXPLORER OR BY VISITING OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.EXPLOREREXPRESS.COM

THANKS,
DAVE

Well, it’s no wonder we can’t get a lift for out trucks, the people who would sell them don’t know what they are talking about and therefor, don’t encourage the manufactures to produce them.

Very disappointing.

I spoke with a member of this site this morning on the phone and he mentioned something about CMJ Motorsports in Corona,CA and PROCOMP might have lift kits for late model Explorer's. I am planning on getting a hold of both and seeing what I can find out. Who here has actually gone into a shop and asked for them to build one for you? Dont think many of you have done more than call from the posts I read but if you have lemme know what they are saying to your face. I know the I have heard from a few people that CMJ in Corona has already done a 4" Lift for 1998 Explorer but wont advertise it, maybe if I go there they will do it for me?????????

Are these guys nuts?
Explorers are very stable at stock height. My '98 handles very well. My '92 with a 5.5" lift and 33" tires is more stable than a few of the cars I have owned.

you gotta understand where explorer express is coming from. i live in the bay area and actually went into the shop and the dude told me the same thing. but they modify explorers to be street trucks, not off road trucks. they carry lowering kits and street dress up kits that i think they fabricate themselves. they are just trying to sell you on the idea of modifying your truck to a street truck just so that you can buy their products. dont believe the hype.

the R,

I don't understand where they are coming from. If you don't deal in something that a customer wants then tell them where to go to get it. Don't make up some bullshit story so they buy from you and don't go somewhere else.

That is fine if Explorer Express only wants to sell street oriented stuff. In that case they should say, "I'm sorry we don't deal in off road modifictions, we only sell street oriented stuff."

The problem is that they are lying about something that they don't deal in just so they can get your business in what they do sell. I think that is really lame.

Jordan,

The '98 has a hitch ball on the bumper with one of those little plastic covers on it.

Paul,

Does it have a smiley face on it? Maybe consider moving up to a REAL mod like a JackInTheBox hitch ball cover???
