Yeah,yeah, I know most people think they're a gimmick,àn maybe they are? I put one on my 2000 Ford Focus SE (stick shift) a coupla years ago, gained 2 mpg.
Not a lot, but something.Cost was 50 dollars.
No side effects, nothing happened except I noticed a tiny hesitation maybe once in a great while can't say for sure the module was the cause.Wasn't anything I was concerned about....I gave my son the car he's had no problems, it probably has 155K on it now.
SOoooooooo.........I'm gonna put one on my 4.0 Aerostar Eddie tomorrow or next day, I have lost the directions to do it 100% for sure like they say.
I'll call èm tomorrow at PerformanceChipsdirect.com try to make sure I do it right.I've had this thing since 2011 in the package.LOL!

Got hold of Performance Chips Direct

So I'm going out now to install it(gas mileage module).Won't know how it runs until I get my radiator in tomorrow. don-ohio
 






I'm sorry to tell you this, but these things are only a resistor which connects in series with the engine coolant temperature sensor. It tricks the computer to think that it's cold, and adjust the mixture to make it a little richer. You might get a little more pick up at the expense of losing gas mileage. It's certainly not worth their price. You could get a cheap pack of resistors to do the same thing.
 






Hi,Brooklyn! Well,THIS one is supposed to give me better mileage and a few HP, but it's warranted for life,so if it doesn't work,I'll send for my money back.
I wired it in, and test drove it,but it didn't do anything so far. I just disconnected it and I'm gonna run the codes tomorrow,since the `check engine'light has been on for the last few weeks.
Thanks,though, for the info......I've heard that before and of course,I'm not gonna take the box apart and look cause it would probably void the warranty. don-ohio (:^)
 


















Gas Mileage Module-It works!

Well,I'll be! My Aerostar has gained about 4+ mpg average since connecting the chip(It connects into the wires to the IAT sensor on the 4.0 engine intake manifold).AND the van is running much more smoothly on acceleration and seems to have more power.:thumbsup:
If this keeps up,I can let the Mustang sit more often and drive the van to work and around.
Now I'm mixing premium with regular Marathon(no ethanol),so I pay 10 cents more per gallon,BUT a 20% gain in gas mileage saves me 65 cents,right? So that's a net of 50 cents a gallon saved or just thereabouts.
It was getting 15 mpg, and now it's nearly 20mpg.
So far.....WHOOPEEeeeeee!!! :D don-ohio (:^)
 












You see,Brooklyn,this is what I don't understand. I asked the technician about the way it hooks up,and it pigtails into the 2 wires of the IAT with its 2 wires.
So,see,I can unhook the 2 wires and give you a resistance reading thru the box,but when it's hooked up,it's also getting a low voltage reading from the electrical system.
So I can read the ohms while it's off and connected,(but that will read ohms from who knows where,mixed in) but when it's energized, I could only test voltage.
The hookup is just teed into the 2 wires of the IAT...they are not interrupted like a person would assume would be necessary.
BTW,the reason I tried to start a new thread, is that it seems to generate more interest and people might notice it more. Is there a problem with another thread? don-ohio (:^)
Both threads were merged to keep everything on the same page. Check the resistance of this resistor module with an Ohmmeter if you have a chance.
 






Each new thread should have a different subject. Having two threads on the same subject might cause confusion because people will see different information in each one. When members read a thread, they see a series of events mixed with information (an item was installed, then they want to see the test results).

Getting back to this module, I thought that it was installed in series with the IAT sensor. It sounds like you installed it in parallel.
 






Hmmmmm.......I don't know if you'd call it parallel, but maybe. The wires of the module simply TEE into the IAT wires.
As far as the new threads,I'll try to abide by your wishes. Thanks for the interest,and maybe tomorrow I can read some ohms and volts. don-ohio (:^)
