Okay, just did my quarterly and cumulative totals for the 4th quarter 2002 (no fill-up anticipated before 1/1/03).

Results to date:

15, 268 miles, 15.52 mpg.

About a 60% city/40% highway split.

I'm also lead-footed.

That is an improvement, as expected, from the first few thousand miles, where I averaged 14.50 mpg.

Yes, I keep detailed logs. None of this rough estimate "miles per tank" stuff for me!

Great info... I was wondering about this. Mine is averaging 13 according to my message center. I suspected after the first few thousand miles it would get better.

BTW, I have a 2003 Limited w/ 4.6L.

My message center typically reads higher than actual mileage.

It needs an etched warning like on the side view mirror "mileage may be less than appears"

Not complaining, though. It's about the same at this point as my 1997 5.0 and that was a good truck, too.

I do like the Limited better!

Oh yes I am! ;)

Missed that other thread, good one. I am usually a lurker and travel a lot, so I don't always catch the good stuff when it comes down.

BTW, you are **** too!;) What percent of drivers keep a mileage log? Gotta be less than 1%. I'm the only one I know! (except you, and we've never met).

I've got one US dollar that says you are an engineer!!

Haha...fine!! I'm very ****. ;) But seriously, it gives me good info on how my Explorer doing. So it's all good!

I was going into the engineer field but switched to business management concentrating in the IT because I didn't really like engineering.

Bwahaha. Knew there was an engineering mindset in you! Your second sentence "just the facts, ma'am". That's exactly why I track mileage, we call it trending data.

BTW, Nice School you got there. (Profile = NCST?). We hire lots of engineers out of there. Good ones.

Recent update:

Drove back from about 400' elevation to sea level, over a distance of 200 miles. Set the cruise at 68-70 mph, filled that tank at the same attitude. registered 19.2 mpg, a new one fillup record for the 02 Ex.

Damn your doing just as good as me and I have the 4.0L OHV V6. The best I get on the highway is 19.7MPG.
