For some reason I am not seeing where the strap that holds up the gas tank is bolted to remove it...is there just the one strap...is that all that holds the gas tank up and in?

I have a leak someplace in the Evaporator line that won't let it pass inspection. I have replaced the rubber tubing at the Evaporator but that did not do the job. I am assuming I will need to replace the line at the tank but being challenged in just getting the tank lose to drop it...

There is just the one strap. It bolts to a crossmember on the inboard side of the tank and hangs from the frame on the other side.

I have had problems from the canister purge solenoid not opening and not allowing the engine to intake fumes from the evap canister, resulting in a strong fuel smell. Check this too, there is a code for it. This code may not trip the check engine light.

How are they determining your leak? Just fuel smell? Check the other lines for dribbles and small leaks while the engine is running. The leak could be so small that is evaporates quickly. Observing the system under pressure(running) may show you another area at fault.

They are putting somekind of pressure test on the tank at the inspection lane...it takes about a minute to run and it shows the tank losing pressure...I have no fuel leaks...have dropped the tank finally and see visibly nothing wrong...however the steel part of the vacuum line running from the tank forward is pretty rusty....can I just bypass this with the same rubber hose I am using to the connectors...and the thing in the tank it connects to...could it be doing something...the gaxkets and fittings all in good shape...
