So i've got the parts for my body lift on order and have 33"s headed this way (finally!). With the added size in the wheels i was looking at the options of putting 4.10s or 4.56s in the back. Anyone have any recommendations for a gear company? And what spline count is the factory 8.8 in the sport trac?

4.10 would be perfect for 33s. 31 spline. You may as well have a locker done while you're at it. It's a little more cost, but it would be easy to do while having the gears changed and might cut down on labor costs if you decide you want it later (and I suspect you will).

Oh, and are you doing the body lift yourself or having a shop do all the work, lift, gears, tires, etc?

Show us the results. Always good to have another lifted ST around.

Thanks for the info OffTrac! If i had the time and materials at my disposal I would, but since 4wheelparts was having a 50% off installation promo through the month of october i figured i'd let them do it (and warranty the work).
I'll have pictures up as soon as it's all completed. I'm about 60% done with the truck to get it where i would like. I still want to do the exhaust, gears, and line-X the lower trim.

For the right price, I'd definitely have paid someone to do the body lift. It's not much fun. Not really hard, but kinda sucked. Can't wait to see the results.

i have a trac with 33"s on 15" wheels and im running 4.10's. my suggestion to you if you havent placed the order yet is to go with 4.56's if you will be running 33"s for sure. my trac was a beast with my 4.10's and 30" pro comp mud tires, and while my 33" duratracs are awesome, moving up to 33"s while still running my 4.10's have made my ride lose serious oomph, not to mention my tranny doesnt shift as precisely, and i have lost signifigant MPG's. i cant wait to scrounge up enough money to get a set of 4.56's.
it should help to aleviate these problems. if you will be running 33"s, get some 4.56's!!!

Meh, I have 32" and about to have 33" with 3.73s but I have one thing most of you guys don't, a 5 speed manual transmission. ;) I can take off fast and spin my tires no problem, even with the locker. The bigger tires have not really affected my gas milage.

yeah, with a stick you dont have to worry about a computer and torque converter doing the shifting for you. i cant wait to move up to 4.56's. thats gonna be the ticket for me right there.

Your RPMs might be a little high on the highway. You should ask around about others experience. I would do 4.56 if I had 35s.
