Gear Shifter Problem...going into park

I have a 2003 Explorer and have recently been having trouble shifting into park. It "hangs up" sometimes. Please advise. Thanks.

I think my mother's '03 Limited might be doing the same thing (has been for a while, I guess). When you try to put in park, does it simply not go into part (the shift lever stops). In her car, you have to let off a bit and then try putting it into park again... it always goes into park the second time.

Sounds like the same problem. Any idea how to repair it?

Unfortunately, no. I too am wondering what might be causing it. I just wanted to be sure if your problem was similar. I'm sure someone here will have some suggestions. They seem to be a pretty helpful group of people here.
