I have a 02 explorer 4x4 limited 4.0 v6

This issue started a couple weeks after I bought the truck. I need to know has anyone experienced this and what may be the first thing to look at.

While doing normal driving my 2nd to 4th gear shifts abnormal!

From 1st too 2nd while driving from an idle position it seems to pull a bit, like it's stuck then it jumps out of gear 1 too 2 with a kick, and the same from gear 2 too 3.

When excelling too highway speeds it does some knocking from 40 mph too 60 mph. Then it excels fine.

This occurs often during normal driving but not all the time!
Any advice or knowledge on it! I appreciate the help in advance !

It is going to get worse. Also it can break your tranny sooner or later. Normally sooner then later.

I just had this EXACT same thing happen over the summer. Felt like I was getting kicked in the ass end of my SUV when it shifted.

It was the solenoid pack inside of the transmission.

Also esclamada, I see you were going to the same thing but in my case, the O/D never flashed like most people. My O/D works though, I just never got the flashing when the pack crapped out.

I bought a genuine FORD pack off eBay for $200 dollars last summer, swapped it out myself and did the filter while I was in there, no more hard shifts.

I've NEVER cracked the pan off a A/T tranny before but it was super easy.

Between the pack, fluid and the filter it was under $300.00 dollars. Local shop wanted $740.00 to do it.

My Explorer XLT shifts like butter now.

Yeah the o/d light doesn't flash. The solenoid pack you say roadblock? I'm going to look into that asap! As soon as I attack this task I will give you guys a follow up!

Thanks for the reply and help
