Looking for someplace that can put 4:56 in my Explorer. Preferably in Orange County or San Diego. I've already talked to 4WP, MIT, ORW, The Toy Shop. So far ORW is the cheapest at $1135 out the door. Anyone have any other ideas? Anyplace to avoid!!!!

I'm not from Cali. but is that all there doing? Just gears. That seems like alot of $$$$ for just gears. I paid $1500 for a re-gear and lockers in both diffs. Just my thoughts!

That's what I thought too. I can get the gears for what, $600? So they want to charge me almost $600 for labor too? The axles diffs are still under the vehicle so that may add some time but damn I wouldn't think it's that bad!!! I was actually hoping for gears and an Auburn in the rear for around $1200 installed but when I got quotes for $1600-$1800 I thought well, so much for the Auburn, I don't need it but I do need the gears to help save my tranny when towing with 33" tires.

Oceanside Driveline in Oceanside, Ca does really good work for reasonable prices. They are off-road friendly. They rebuilt my rear driveshaft for $107.00 (r and r, new U-joints, balanced it because I scraped the weight off on a rock, etc..).

Pro Gear in San Diego does great work, but at high prices.

I paid $1,000 to re-gear my truck at Cepek, but they are out of business (that was even with my friend the manager).

Remember, the rear diff is simple, but the front is a pain in the A#@! You have to take the entire left side out to re-gear. Its a 5-6 hour job just for the front diff, so expect to pay.
