Anyone taken one completely apart? Fighting this P-2106 Code. Found a real interesting video, trained Ford Tech., same code only, replaced Throttle Body, same code, replaced again, same, third new T.B., decided it was something else. Removed rear speed sensor, it was chewed to hell.
I just don't see Ford locking down a "Forced Limited Power" on a vehicle because of an ABS issue; the brakes would still work. So, I decided it may just be a real Throttle Control issue. Ford Shop Manual says T.B. only serviced as an assembly, yet stores list individual parts. I bought a new Throttle Position Sensor. Opened up, the plate was loaded sixteenth-inch thick carbon deposits all over (152,000 miles). Ford says don't clean, special coating; my special coating was gook. I took the whole damned thing apart, except did not press throttle plate rod out of it's bearings. Cleaned everything with LPS-2, put back, engine started instantly, but instead of the usual 1200 RPM, it jumped to 2200, dropping gradually to idle, which was 800 RPM as usual. Ran until hot, thought that might improve the sudden high speed, nope. Scanner said "no codes". So, being a glutton for punishment, I tore it off again.
On top is (was) a black plastic plug which obviously, I thought, accessed the stop inside; the gear butted against it when closed. Plug broke off. "Plug" had inside a 2-plunger assembly separated by a stiff spring. I have no book Ford calls "Vacuum and Emissions", which details, I think, Throttle Bodies. Looks like the spring device is intended to "cushion" sudden throttle closing, like the old dashpots on some carburetors years ago.
Anybody know? Thanks for reading. imp
