Took it in today for an oil change because I didn't feel like doing it in sub 30° weather at Midas.

On my way there, I heard the brakes digging in to a rotor. Upon arrival my guess was correct, I checked when they pulled it in and the driver side rotor is done lol. I bought that and pads for both the front driver and passenger side of course, and some brake cleaner. I'm sure I can do this easily enough since I doubt it varies much from my 06 Mustang when I did the brake job on it (Now I have a 2014 GT).

The things that concern me are, they said there is a metal "cooler line" from the transmission to the radiator that has a small leak and would need replaced. They said it's not bad and it's not a huge hurry... But I'm not a fan of letting broken things sit. They quoted the metal line for me and it was $180 for just the line. I'm curious, if it's just leaking at the connection is it possible I can just change out some sort of O-ring and put it back together? Seems weird to need to replace a metal pipe...

The other problem they found was a seal on the halfshaft that was also leaking, called an "output seal". They said it's not leaking much either, more of a slow seep and it's just getting slung around (obviously since it's connected to the halfshaft, which spins) during driving.

No fluid/oil even fell on the ground during the oil change from either of these leaks, but I still want to get it fixed.

My question is, does anyone have any write ups, videos or tips to help me out with the two problems listed above? Changing the rotor and pads shouldn't take me any more than an hour tomorrow. Midas quoted $360 total between labor, the metal trans to radiator line, and the half shaft seat.

Thanks for any help guys, I was going to just have them do it for her, but really thinking that metal line should just have a o-ring that can be replaced or something.

Here's her explorer, it's a 2006 4.0L V6 XLT 4WD

By chance was the rad recently changed? If its a jobber rad they are notorious for leaking from the fittings on the transmission cooler. You can try swapping out the o rings but on mine I ended up swapping the locks from the fittings out of the factory rad I replaced with the jobber rad.

As for the brakes they are a breeze. 3 bolts. Just make sure you torque the calipers back on after you are done. they have a habit of coming loose.

Radiator hasn't been changed to my knowledge.

Anyone have any clue as to those problems?

I did the rotor and brake pads today so that's out of the way. Thanks again in advance for any help
