I just got my system sounding amazing and I was to see how far I can push the woofers. I already have a bass test CD. I want real songs with words. I don't care what type of music it is, rap, techno, rock, whatever. I don't care if the bass in the song is really punchy or if it is almost one constant note. Just give me some songs so I can make a CD with tons of bass! Geez I am turning into a bass-head!!! Well not really I just wanna see how my system sounds with lots of overpowering bass. Then I'll turn the gain back down a little, maybe :)

Steve.

The 1812 Ovature(sp?) recorded by Telarc... (those are real cannons in that song)

Bach Busters by Don Dorsey (sp?).. again released by Telarc.. (track 15/16 is Tocata and Fugue(sp?) has the lower stuff in it.. including a 5hz signal at the end of 15 or 16.. if I remember correctly).

Actually.. anything released by Telarc is normally very good (not always with bass.. but very good recordings)..

I also have a Telarc disc of Great Organ works.. which again has Tocata and Fugue(sp?).. This one isn't a synth organ.. but a real organ recorded.. and It is hard to play (and have sound correct)

That should get you started..

Maniak - I think we have similar taste in music! Some others I've been thinking of
-carmina baruna, from the movie the doors. Oh baby, get the bass cranking on that one...
-I definately agree on that version of the 1812 overture, very powerful.
-there used to be a CD out there called "Bach Boosters", I listened to it, didn't buy it, wish I had... basically had all of the EXPLOSIVE and very bassy classical music that was produced...
-there are some songs on the GLory CD (its the movie with Denzel Washington, Matthew Broderick, and several other GREAT actors) that with the subwoofer on just sound AWESOME.

I can't seem to think of any others and I can't find my CD's, I'll let you know some more later.

Don't forget the standard bassy songs
-low-rider (very humorous to listen to while in my lifted Explorer)
-Britney spears has one song on her first CD... its called the beat goes on or something like that, I remembered it didn't hurt my ears until I put in the subwoofer :).
-jumpin jumpin - destiny's child - they ain't bad lookin either, LOL

-and while its not really bassy, gotta recommend Jessica Simpsons "I think Im in love with you" if for no other reason then half the music video she's driving around in a four-wheel modified Ford Bronco, plus shes HOT (see the thread under "Exploring everything under the sun" titled "anyone seen Jessica Simpsons new music video?"

ok, thought of some more great classical songs with some nice bass
-Also Sprach Zarathustra (the song from that one Sci-Fi movie, forgot the name)
-Christmas Eve Sarajevo (its a song by the Trans-Syberian Orchestra, you only hear em around christmas but they have some KICKING christmas songs, NOT being sarcastic either.

and some other nice bassy songs
-come on over, christina aguillera (I think she'd be hot if she got rid of the mimi makeeup (blue eyeshadow)
-if you buy the test-drive off road game (can buy it for like $5 on ebay) it dubs as a music CD and it has some nice music on it too.

DR. DRE 2000.... need I say more (80% of the 20+ tracks slam).

Matt - to add to your comment about Christina.... and if she gained some weight. I would be afraid of snapping her like a twig.

Glory is the best soundtrack I have EVER heard. Gives me frickin' goose bumps every time I listen to it. James Horner (also did Braveheart, and Titanic) is one of the best in the biz (right up there with John Williams).

In addition to the above songs:

1. Wagner -- Ride of the Valkyries
2. Metallica -- Anything off the album S&M. The first time I played it, I was in my car and all I could say was WOW. With the orchestra, it adds so much more depth. Kicks @$$
3. Lenny Kravitz -- Supersoulfighter (or anything off 5 for that matter)

I have to chime in and second Matt's comments on Glory, James Horner is awesome. I also like Thomas Newman, David Newman, Randy Newman, and James Newton Howard as well. Thomas Newman did The Shawshank Redemption, another great soundtrack. Sorry to get off topic, but I had to say something.

2 albums

Two of the best bass/dance albums I beleive ever made are by DJ Scribble & Anthony Acid. They are called MDMA and MDMA 2 (Music for Dance Music for Attitude). Both albums have great base in every song and the music is VERY energetic! (techno, btw!)

throw on Don Henley's "Sunset Grille". if your system can handle it, you'll be pretty astounded by what's in there...

as an added bonus, it doesn't just sound like a bunch of crap Dead Link Removed

digital cannons

The warning on the CD case for Telarc's recording of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture: "Caution! Digital Cannons".
This recording has been known to move small objects in the room.

How bout:

2 Live Crew - Hoochie Mamma
House of Pain - Boom-shalock-loc
Bulletproof - The Sound Track, track 3
Anything by DJ Icey
The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over, Hotel California

Got Napster?

Hey, just thought of something...If you have Napster and burn your own cd's, try a Napster search for "Plasmic Honey" (artist). ANY of their songs have a lot of bass. Their best is "We Were in the Dark" it's got lots of hard hitting bass and some thunder effects!

Man, as soon as I read your post I thought 1812 Overture, and then I read the replay and bam, there it is.

1)Big Bass would definately be "My Name is MUD" by Primus.

2)Most Rage Against The Machine songs have fierce Bass in them.

3)Rob Zombie's latest album has good Bass, especially in "Superbeast".

Finally, you could always get a play station for your truck and play Quake in it :P

All the stuff I've listed is not your usual Hip Hop bass stuff.

OK, bass huh,

Korn - Chutes and Ladders
Nine Inch Nails - Closer
Rob/White Zombie - Any of them
And surprisingly, some U2 songs have lots of bass

OK, don't laugh, but...

...I just had a Alpine cd/tuner installed in my truck and the best cd for testing bass, in my limited selection was Prince's "Diamonds and Pearls". Ok stop laughing. Actually some of the tracks sound excellent. However, I don't like all the songs. Just a suggestions. I'd bet you couldn't even find the cd anymore...

I dont know if anyone listens to rap but here are some songs with crazy bass that I have found:
~504 Boyz- Wobble Wobble
~Any club music or techno hits REAL HARD
~Suprisingly enough some Phish songs rumble nicely
~Notorious BIG- Hypnotize sounds really nice too

Buy the Master P: Ghetto D, best 11 dollars I ever spent.

On that cd #12 Make em say ugh is awesome, it punds around real light and then BOOM!! It sounded pretty mean even with my stock 6 1/2

Then #15 After dollars, no cents is great too. But just buy that cd, its awesome, gangsta rap mostly.

Dr. Dre's Chronic 2001 is good
Either of Eminems cd's is good
Will Smith has some good ones but the songs are stupid but have alot of bass "Summertime" is an awesome song, sounds good.

Jay Z: Big Pimpin
3 Doors down: Kryptonite
Matchbox 20: Bent

I went bumpin with a guy I worked with and he has a Mitsubishi Mirage and the trunk was full of MTX and that absolutely SLAMMED! He played his Christina Aguilera cd and it was pounding, I could FEEL it like 75 yards away with a chainsaw goin besdie me. So theresa few good ones, just be careful on Master P, it might blow out your windows!

Edgar Winter's: "Frankenstein". That will get them bouncing and booming.

Want to try some highs go for Foghat-"Stone Blue". I've blown out more than one tweeter with that one.
