Hello all. Great forum you have made here. John rock has my fav... anyway. So I just got this 01ST w/ 162xxx and wanted some input as of how to keep it on its best behavior. Right now the ST fires up quickly but a slight rumble will occur about every 7 or 8 seconds from the engine. The ABS light is on. Aside from that it seems like its in decent shape. Thanks for any input yall!

Change the plugs and wires if they don't look pretty new, change ALL the fluids* and filters and motor on.
New shocks are a good idea even when they're new.

*Not just the oil, but tranny, transfer case, axles, coolant if it doesn't look fresh, and brake fluid.

yeah that is all on the to-do. last thing i need is for this truck to screw up in the midst of winter. any chance of getting better than 15-17 mpg? doubtfull but i figure id see. how's the cat's in these. i think, well pretty sure from what i read here, that it's the issue. my cat is clogged. it will rev up to 3000 and stop. kinda slow on the go. was wondering what people are dishing out for this service fix?

plan on doing a body lift next summer so thats when ill do the shocks?

good to know. i thought it was weird. no it does not do it when in drive. i was reading all these post and kinda looking for anything 2001 posted. in there it spoke of that happening and being resolved by removing the cat. guess i may have misread something. selective memory.. well i guess thats a good thing. thanks for clearing that up.

Keeps you from over-revving the motor with no load on it.

Welcome.

Check to see if its the fan clutch kicking in.

I'd tune it up,even toss a new fuel filter in it,and change all of the fluids. It wouldn't hurt.

yeah thats cool, it will make it easier when you change the rear shocks if you have the bed off.
