Ranger 2.3 CD XLS 2007
Hello everyone,

I own a Ford Ranger double cabine 2.3 16V model 2007, built in Argentina, and am very happy with my "light truck".

Just bought a Scangauge II, not received here yet and it is actually at Brazilian customs, for scanning purposes and fuel economy. I am also analysing to have an Autotap as a diagnostic tool for my Ranger.

Best regards from Belo Horizonte-MG,

Felipe

Modifying of the original back seats in order to be less straight and more inclined
http://www.4x4brasil.com.br/forum/showthread.php?t=43452

Our gas Rangers have problems discharging gas back after the 1st stop of the gas pump. This happens on gas Rangers after 2005 built in Argentina. I took some measures not allowing the gas get in contact with the bed because our gas has some alcohol mixed which could corrode the bed
http://www.comunidaderanger.com.br/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=147&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45

I am now waiting for my Scangauge II to be processed by our customs:

"...
Label/Receipt Number: XXXXXXXXXXXX
Detailed Results:

Bullet Into Foreign Customs, August 11, 2008, 5:02 pm, BRAZIL
Bullet Arrived Abroad, August 04, 2008, 4:18 am, BRAZIL
Bullet International Dispatch, August 01, 2008, 2:11 am, O'HARE
..."

I hope it will work on my Ranger.

Would Autotap also work on my Ranger?

My Ranger is a gas Ranger, using the North American 2.3 16V also used in Fusion model. I am also searching for technical manuals or CDs about this motor. Any tip?

Regards,

Felipe

Thank you!

Thank you, CCr, Sams01XplrSprt, BrooklynBay!

Brasilero :) Welcome, your truck is very clean, sharp! The headlamps are bad@ss! Nice...

4 doors rock! I heard gas in brasil is mostly ethanol. is that true? if it is what do you refine it from? I'll guess sugarbeets

Thank you Donner!

CCr,

Our original Rangers can not be fueled with ethanol, just Brazilian gas (gas + ethanol, ethanol is now 25% of the misture, but goverment is planning to reduce it to 20%). Ford opted for the Ranger to be used with CNG as the alternative fuel for fuel economy:

http://carsale.uol.com.br/opapoecarro/testes/aval_061221ranger.shtml

http://www2.uol.com.br/bestcars/testes3/ranger-gnv-1.htm

His direct competitor and sales leader Chevrolet S10 opted for flex motors, which can use Brazilian gas or ethanol.

Problem is the Italian BRC CNG kit of 5th generation is too expensive and CNG prices have increased more than ethanol.

So Chevrolet is winning the competition in sales so far.

Regards,

Felipe

BrooklynBay,

I appreciate the pics.

My Ranger is for day-to-day use and the family.

I use a Sanfonar cover (http://www.sanfonar.com.br/sanfonar/index.php?page=produtos&fab=ford&id=20).

But would really like to install some rack like Rhino (http://www.realtruck.com/go_rhino_quick_rack_truck_bed_racks/R14684P1139C1T.html?gad=CNWRq7wCEggOfpqtXVaiARitqKv_AyCJ848S&utm_campaign=Integrations&utm_source=NexTag&utm_medium=Website) above the cover till the height of the truck, because sometimes my "payvolume" is reaching maximum with this cover.

I will have to build one, because nobody sells them commercially in Brazil, but they build their ones. Anyone has done by himself there?

"Payvolume is Power", that was said by a brother-in-law once said to me, unfortunately he passed away before I get my Ranger.

Regards,

Felipe

Oi, Bienvenido!

Welcome to Explorer Forum!
I think you are our first 4-door ranger member...

Thank you, Dopler174!

It is a nice "light truck", specially for carrying family volume load (not too much weighted payload).

I have already bought Scangauge II and am thinking of getting Autotap. Would they work on my built in Argentina Ranger 2.3 with an american motor?

Regards,

Felipe

Felipe I thought of buying the 08 4 door ranger, but wasn't sure on the space for the rear seats, would you say it's comfortable back there? I take my mom, my syster, my gf etc etc in my truck and a real back seat is a must for me (not like those fold down on the extended cabs)

Saludos

jad2411,

My 4 door Ranger built in Argentina was not so comfortable at the unique back seat. Is your 4 door Ranger also built in Argentina?

Main complaints of the unique back seat were that it was almost straight and uncomfortable the way it comes originally, it lacked a minimum inclination for the back.

The Argentinean firm Tronador do a modification of the unique back seat of the 4 door Ranger in order to get it more comfortable, please see here: http://www.clubranger4x4.com.ar/datos/ReformasientoRanger.htm.

I did something similar like the Tornador and complaints in my case were solved.

In my opinion the 4 door Ranger is a "little workhorse" and will not give us the comfortable of a sedan or a more expensive 4 door pickup (almost 50-100% more expensive).

For the purposes my family uses and the money we want to expense with a vehicle, we have been very satisfied, because in order to get more comfort we will have to pay more (almost 50-100% more expensive).

Though the unique back seat of my Ranger will not be so comfortable as the back seats of the Explorer, we are happy with the Ranger.

Regards,

Felipe

I didn't buy it, got an 02 explorer xlt (mainly because I had like 70% of the cost and I'll own it in ~1 year VS the ranger which I'd have to pay for 5 years)

jad2411,

Costs will depend where you are.

Diferences between diesel Rangers vs. gas Rangers in Brazil, the diesel are at least R$ 30,000.00 (almost US$ 18,000.00) more expensive.

Are you in the USA? I did not know there were 4 door Rangers in the USA.

Good luck with your Explorer!

Regards,

Felipe
