Hi there.

Name is Rick, and I just bought my first Explorer, a 99 XLT. Bought as a winter beater to keep my summer vehicle out of the snow. I stumbled across your forum while looking for info on how to mount some off road lights to the roof.

Looking forward to checking out all the cool rides here.

Been a long time since I've owned a truck or a 4x4, and I'm psyched as hell to own a one again. :)

I do have one. I'm using the search feature though; I'm trying not to be one of those annoying noobs who asks a question that has been answered 3488542 times. lol

Thanks :)

Here's a pic of my new toy.

Any plans for the Ex or just a winter vehicle?

Where are you located?

I'm around Barrie, in Ontario.

As for plans.... initially I bought this solely as a winter beater, for 1200 bucks. It has 160,000 kilometers on it. Quarter panels are rusted out, hatch ditto. Other than that, it's solid.... underneath, frame, pretty much everything is solid. Everything works, right down to the a/c & keyless entry.

So, I'm going to see how she works over the winter. If it turns out to be a solid vehicle, I can see replacing the quarters and hatch, and maybe making something out of it.

I love my summer toy, but I forgot how cool it is to own a truck, and a 4x4... so I hope it turns out to be a solid commuter. Then I might have some minor fun here and there with it, sure. :)

^^Good deal. There must be some good spots up there to hit some trails north of the city. My cousin lives in Barrie, I was just there this weekend. I want to get back up there soon with more time to go 'Explore' the surrounding areas.

Cool. Not sure how much trailing I'll do with this thing. I need it to get me back and forth to work in the winters. lol

I have a long commute, and the truck was bought so I can park my car in the winter.
