Hi!
I'm new to the forum and to my recently bought Explorer XLT 98.
It's a 4.0 SOHC with an (from the gear change count, I guess 5r55) Automatic tranny; assembled in Venezuela and bought with only 105.000 Km on the clock --65.625 mi--. It's what is called here the "elite" version: leather, original 6 CDs sound sys, etc.
I have little experience with 4x4s, but after reading some threads here (and specially seeing some avatars) I can't wait to give it a try off road.
I'm a mechanical engineer and a diving instructor (have yet to decide which one is my real occupation), and haven't been under the hood since I sold my 2wd Lariat 78, but I'm planning to do most of the simple maintenance of my X (help and suggestions are most appreciated.)
At 11.75 mi/galon and still far --very-- from the legendary 30 miles/gallon I read in this forum, I'm seriously thinking about converting my X to natural compressed gas; sure I'll keep you informed.
Thanks for a very useful forum!
G.
