2021 XLT
Greeting from new member in N Jersey. Have a 2014 XLT, bought new, now has 171,000 miles. Test drove a new XLT, new Platinum, new St today. Wasn't impressed with the 2.3 Liter XLT ( mine is the V-6) but I was surprised how noisy all 3 were. I swear my '14 is quieter. Are my ears playing trick on me?

Welcome to the Forum Rocky.
The main difference is that, unlike your 2014 XLT, all the ones you test drove were Ecoboosts. That probably explains the difference in the noise level. I can't actually recall noticing any difference when I went from my 2011 Limited to an Ecoboost. I believe a few members have noted that the XLT is noisier. I believe that the 2020 XLT didn't come with a hood insulator but that was changed on the 2021, I think.

You have a point, Peter. Indeed they are all EcoBoosts, and I will dbl check with the salesman but I think they were all 21's. I will check into the "hood insulator" issue; do you think that is something that can be added at a later date?

Yes, I believe a few members have done exactly that. Missing Part? Hood insulation pad
See post 62 in particular.
