- 2006 Explorer Eddie Bauer
First post here on this great website! Name is Jim and I live in Rockville, MD. I own a 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition with the V-6 engine. Bought new, all paid off, and with 96,000 miles on the odometer, am still enjoying this vehicle, and plan on keeping it until it's beyond my means to repair.
I am a major DIY'er, and have posted DIY articles on several other marque websites. Over the last 20 years, and more as a hobby, I have restored and raced numerous vintage sports cars. I've slowed down a bit of late, and really don't enjoy eating rust and being showered with sparks from the mig welder as much.
So far, outside of tires, brake pads and a religious oil and filter change regimen, my Explorer has given me trouble free performance. I did have to replace the radiator last year, but from what I've been reading here, that's not an uncommon repair. Also had the transmission flushed and filled at the same time, since I lost a bit of tranny fluid when I disconnected the transmission cooler lines to install the new radiator.
Glad to be onboard here, and I'll contribute to the membership in any way I can.
Happy Trails!
